DOMESTIC CCTV DRAIN INSPECTIONS
See What’s Happening Inside Your Drains
Underground drainage is difficult to assess from the surface. A pipe can look completely normal from above while cracks, obstructions or structural defects are causing problems below ground.
A CCTV drain survey allows a specialist camera to travel through the drainage system, giving our engineers a direct view of the condition of the pipework.
This can be particularly useful where a drain keeps blocking, wastewater is backing up, unusual smells are present or previous clearance work has not solved the issue.
Once the inspection is complete, we can explain what we have found and advise whether the drain needs cleaning, jetting, repair work or no further action.
When Should You Consider a CCTV Drain Survey?
A CCTV inspection may be worthwhile if you are experiencing:
- Drains that keep blocking
- Slow drainage that repeatedly returns
- Unpleasant smells with no obvious cause
- Gurgling from sinks, toilets or baths
- Water backing up through fixtures
- Suspected root intrusion
- Cracks or movement around underground drainage
- A drainage problem that cannot be located from the surface
- Concerns about older pipework
- Problems following previous drainage repairs
It can also be useful before carrying out more extensive repair work, as the footage can help identify the exact location and nature of the defect.
Common Problems We Can Identify
Blockages and Build-Up
The camera can reveal restrictions caused by grease, debris, wipes, silt and other material.
Cracked Pipework
Cracks can allow water to escape and may eventually worsen if left untreated.
Displaced Joints
Sections of pipework can move over time, leaving joints misaligned.
Root Intrusion
Tree and plant roots can enter drainage systems through damaged joints or cracks.
Collapsed Drains
Where part of the pipe has failed completely, CCTV footage can help identify the affected section.
Poor Pipe Alignment
Incorrect gradients or poorly aligned pipework can contribute to recurring blockages.
A CCTV drain survey uses a specialist camera to inspect the inside of underground drainage pipes. It allows us to see blockages, damage and other defects that would otherwise be hidden.
A survey may be useful if you have recurring blockages, unexplained smells, slow drainage or suspected damage underground.
Yes. Camera inspections can often identify root intrusion where roots have entered through cracks or damaged joints.
No. In most cases, the drainage system can be inspected through an existing access point without excavation.
Yes. A camera inspection can help identify sections of pipework that have become damaged, displaced or collapsed.
Depending on the cause, we may recommend drain clearance or high-pressure water jetting.
We can explain the type and location of the defect and recommend an appropriate repair option.
Yes. We work with homeowners, landlords, letting agents and property managers across the North West.
Drain Reaction provides domestic CCTV drain surveys throughout the North West. Contact us with your postcode if you would like to confirm coverage.
A Clear View of What’s Happening Underground
From the initial inspection through to the recommended next step, our CCTV survey process is designed to give you clear answers about the condition of your drains.
Tell Us About the Problem
Let us know what symptoms you are experiencing and whether the drainage issue has happened before.
Access the Drainage System
Our engineer will identify a suitable access point and prepare the system for inspection.
Inspect the Pipework
A specialist drainage camera is fed through the pipework while the engineer monitors the footage in real time.
Identify Any Problems
We look for blockages, damage, root intrusion, displaced joints, collapses and other defects.
Explain the Next Step
Once the inspection is complete, we explain what has been found and recommend the most appropriate solution where work is required.
What Happens After the Survey?
The next step depends entirely on what the inspection shows.
No Significant Defect
If the pipework is in good condition, no repair may be required. Cleaning or jetting may be enough to improve the drainage.
Blockage or Heavy Build-Up
Where deposits are restricting the pipe, high-pressure drain jetting may be recommended to clear the obstruction and clean the pipework.
Localised Damage
Small cracks or damaged sections may be suitable for a targeted repair without replacing a larger section of drainage.
More Serious Structural Damage
Collapsed or badly displaced drainage may require excavation and replacement of the affected section of pipework.
Root Intrusion
Where roots have entered the drainage system, they may need to be removed before the underlying crack, joint or defect is repaired.
