EXPERT DRAINAGE REPAIRS
Repairing the Problem, Not Just the Symptoms
A drain that continually blocks, leaks or performs poorly may have an underlying structural problem.
Cracks, displaced joints, root intrusion and collapsed sections of pipework can all affect how wastewater moves through the drainage system. In some cases, a blockage can be cleared temporarily but return again because the defect remains.
Drain Reaction can assess the drainage system and determine whether repair work is required. Where necessary, CCTV inspection equipment can be used to locate the damaged section without unnecessary excavation.
Once we understand the condition of the drain, we can explain the available options and recommend the most suitable approach.
Signs Your Drains May Need Repairing
Drain damage is not always visible from above ground. There are, however, several warning signs that can suggest there is a problem within the pipework.
- Drains blocking repeatedly
- Cracks or defects identified during a CCTV survey
- Unpleasant smells that keep returning
- Water draining more slowly than expected
- Wastewater backing up into fixtures
- Damp or unusually wet areas outside
- Subsidence or ground movement near drainage runs
- Tree roots entering underground pipework
- Sections of drain that have become displaced or collapsed
Recurring problems are particularly worth investigating because repeatedly clearing a blockage may not resolve the reason it keeps happening.
Common Causes of Drain Damage
Ground Movement
Movement in the surrounding soil can place pressure on underground pipes and cause joints to separate.
Tree Root Intrusion
Roots naturally seek out moisture and can enter drainage systems through damaged joints or defects.
Age and Deterioration
Older drainage systems can weaken over time. Materials may crack and joints can fail.
Heavy Blockages
Long-term restrictions inside a drain can place additional pressure on pipework.
Poor Installation
Incorrect gradients or poorly connected joints can create problems that may require repair.
External Pressure
Construction work, vehicle loads and changes above ground can sometimes damage buried drains.
